Support the Investigation and Support Survivors
The Facility Files is an independent investigation that exposes abuse, corruption, and cover-ups inside Texas’s troubled teen industry.
We don’t take funding from the facilities we investigate. That means every document request, every interview, every hour of editing is powered by survivors, advocates, and people like you.
Why Your Support Matters
Amplify Survivor Voices: Your support helps us share stories that facilities tried to silence.
Uncover the Truth: Public records, tax filings, and court documents often cost money to access.
Protect the Project: Independent journalism takes time, legal guidance, and resources.

The Facility Files is an independent investigative project exposing abuse and corruption inside Texas youth treatment centers. Using survivor and staff interviews, public records, government contracts, and business documents, we are building a public archive that connects the dots between power, profit, and abuse.
Our long-term goal is to produce a full investigative docuseries on YouTube! The series will shine a light on what really happens behind closed doors at these facilities. Each episode will center on one facility, following the money trail, uncovering hidden ownership, and giving a platform to those who lived or worked inside.
Right now, we are in the early stages of production. We’ve collected thousands of pages of records and survivor submissions, but to move forward we need funding to begin filming interviews. These stories need to be heard and seen!
Every contribution helps us take the next step toward professional filming, editing, and releasing episodes that will reach the public and hold these institutions accountable.
Together, we can open the files they never wanted opened.
